What is identification of gifted learners?
“Identification” is the process of reviewing student data collected at the screening level and conducting further evaluation of student potential to determine the most qualified students for the specific gifted services available.
What is an Identification/Placement Committee?
This is a standing committee which is comprised of a professional who knows the child, classroom teacher(s), gifted resource teachers, school administrators, and others deemed appropriate. This committee operates at the school level.
What is placement?
Placement is the determination of the appropriate educational option(s) for each eligible student.
What is screening?
“Screening” is the process of creating a pool of candidates using multiple criteria through the referral process, review of test data, and review of grades. Screening is the active search for students who should be evaluated for identification.
What are service options?
“Service Options” include instructional strategies, settings, and staffing selected for the delivery of appropriate services that are based on student needs.
