Do you have uninsured children?
Are you pregnant and uninsured?
FAMIS may be able to help you get health care coverage at no cost or a very low cost.
The FAMIS programs are free or low-cost, state sponsored health insurance programs for children under 19 years of age and pregnant women. For children it covers well-child check-ups, doctor visits, dental and vision care, prescriptions, hospital stays, tests and X-rays, etc. For pregnant women, comprehensive health care benefits are provided during the pregnancy and for two months following the end of pregnancy. Eligibility is based on family size and income (a family of 4 making up to $47,100/year /$3,925 per month may qualify!).
There are no monthly premiums or sign up fees.
The Project Connect Grant for Danville Public Schools will end on June 30, 2013. If your child was enrolled in FAMIS Plus or FAMIS with the help of a DPS outreach worker, your coverage will not change. All correspondence about your child’s coverage will now come from the local Department of Social Services for FAMIS Plus or the Central Processing Unit in Richmond for FAMIS. However, if you have questions, you can still call Ann Walker at 276 732-0509 for assistance.
If your child is already enrolled in a FAMIS plan:
- Remember you MUST renew every 12 months
- If you have a change of address, phone # or income, you MUST report this to DSS or FAMIS immediately. Failure to do so can result in your child’s coverage being cancelled without you even knowing it!
To report changes you can call
- (434) 799-6537 to report changes to DSS;
- 1-866-2647 to report changes to FAMIS.
Remember-If you have questions about FAMIS after June 30, 2013, you can call Ann Walker at 276 732-0509 in Martinsville.
