Project Connect

VHCF’s Project Connect grants fund local outreach and enrollment efforts that help families apply for Virginia’s state-sponsored health insurance programs for children (FAMIS and FAMIS Plus). Project Connect Case Managers provide ONE on ONE assistance with the insurance application process, inquiries about services provided and follow-up services to ensure that the road to securing health insurance and services is a pleasant one.

FAMIS and FAMIS PLUS are the insurances provided through the Project Connect program. If your children are not covered by medical or dental insurance you may be eligible to get your children, up to age 19, free or low cost insurance through Virginia’s FAMIS and FAMIS Plus programs. Eligibility is based on a family’s current monthly income; however a family of four earning up to $3,725/month may qualify. FLEXIBILITY is a plus with FAMIS.

The FAMIS programs are not welfare and can be a bridge to help children receive health insurance and health care until their parents are able to re-enter the workforce. Detailed information can be found on the FAMIS website (http://www.famis.org)
