Issued:  07/01/2010

Satisfactory attendance is a minimum expectation for all employees of the Danville Public Schools.  All employees are expected to be present for all of their assigned working hours.  Employees who find it necessary to be absent from the job are required to provide proper notification to their supervisors as soon as possible but no later than the start of the work day unless circumstances prohibit communication.  Absence for any two days without prior approval or notification to the appropriate supervisor shall be considered neglect of duty and grounds for dismissal.

Because our employees are valuable resources to our students, Danville Public Schools will recognize those employees who have maintained exemplary attendance during the school year, defined as no more than three (3) days absence, exclusive of military leave, jury duty, or pre-approved professional leave.  Individual schools or departments may also develop recognition programs for employees with exemplary attendance.

The Superintendent shall develop any regulations necessary to implement this policy.
