A Public Hearing will be held by the School Board of the City of Danville, Virginia, in the Danville Room of the School Board Office, 341 Main Street, Danville, Virginia, on the 2nd day of May 2013, at 7:00 p.m.  At that time, the School Board will receive written and oral comments from citizens concerning:

The proposed changes to the Danville Public Schools Policy and Procedures Manual may be viewed in the School Board Office at 341 Main Street and on the Danville Public Schools website, http://web.dps.k12.va.us/.

 

 

 


Excerpt from DPS Policy 7130.10:  

 

The Superintendent shall disseminate a public announcement, at least 30 days prior to Board action, advising that any new policy or revised policy is available for review and comment at the School Board Office and on the web site of the Division.

Before adopting a new or revised policy, the Board shall hold a public hearing to receive community comment.

In addition to the scheduled review of each section of the Policy Manual, the Board will also entertain proposed changes to any section of the Policy Manual based on changes in the Code of Virginia, changes in Federal laws and regulations, suggestions for change by the Virginia School Boards Association, requests for change by the Superintendent, or requests for change by a majority of the Board.

 

Effective with fiscal year 2007-08, the Board will undertake a periodic review of the Policy Manual on a four-year cycle.  This routine periodic review shall be scheduled as follows:
