Bonner Band News

All-District Band auditions were held on Saturday, November 13, 2010 at Forest Middle School in Forest, VA. The very best musical talent in our district (from Patrick County east to Pittsylvania County all the way up through Roanoke/Salem) from grades seven and eight auditioned for judges by playing scales and by sight reading. Congratulations to two Bonner students who made it into the All-District Band: Daniel Davis and Clara MacFarland.

Daniel Davis, a seventh grader, is a trombone player. Daniel joins an elite group as he is only the second 7th grader from Bonner to make it to All-District Band in the past five years. Clara MacFarland, an eighth grade alto saxophone player, also deserves recognition. Clara placed higher than any other saxophone player who auditioned. She received a score of 201 points out of a possible 200. She holds the honor of being first chair alto saxophone at All-District Band.
All-District Band will take place January 28-29 at Cave Spring High School. Clara and Daniel, along with the other All-District members, will perform that weekend at 4 p.m. on January 29th.

In other Bonner band news, the eighth grade band students along with the orchestra students performed their concert music at Piedmont Mall from 12:15 p.m.-1:15 p.m. on Friday, December 10, 2010. One sixth grader, twelve seventh graders, and thirty-six eighth graders performed seasonal music for holiday shoppers. As always, the Bonner band students deserve recognition for their dedication to the musical program.
