What We Carry

The traveling presentation What We Carry recently came to Bonner Middle School . Students in Mrs. Harvey's U.S. History class had a lesson including the suitcase of replicas of mementos and artifacts, and a DVD of the documentary film based on Holocaust survivor Kitty Saks. Mrs. Saks was born in Vienna but spent much of the war posing as a Catholic girl in numerous convents in Brussels. She was liberated by the British in 1944, and currently lives in the Tidewater region of Virginia.

This opportunity was made possible by the Holocaust Commission of the Tidewater United Jewish Federation, who believe in Holocaust education for ALL middle and high school students, as the goal is to help them learn from the lessons of history to become better global citizens.
