Black History Comes to Gibson

Have you ever wanted to learn more about a famous person?  Recently, students in Miss Doss’ second grade class at Gibson Elementary had a chance to do just that! Students were asked to choose a black American they thought had made a contribution to the way we live today.  They had to prepare an oral and visual presentation on that individual.  Students then presented their projects to the class.  Upon completion of each presentation, the audience members were allowed to “interview” the presenter.  The students chose individuals such as Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Rosa Parks, Ben Carson, Michael Jackson, Michael Jordan, RG III, Frankie Lymon, Gabby Douglas, and Tyler Perry (aka Madea) as their Americans who have made a difference in our lives today.
