Big Fun under the Big Top

Earlier this year, 230 students and staff members from Glenwood Elementary School loaded 5 chartered buses and headed to Greensboro, NC to experience “The Greatest Show on Earth,” Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Circus.

For many students, this was the first time seeing the circus. When asked to name their favorite part of the circus, students said acrobats, elephants, horses, tigers, and the big dragon in the finale, but a majority of Glenwood students who were asked said their absolute favorite part of the show were the motorcycles.

The school wide circus trip was Glenwood’s prize for winning the Kleenex Fieldtrips Contest back in September of 2011. During that contest, Kleenex asked people to log on to the Kleenex Facebook page and vote for their favorite school. The 100 schools who received the most votes nationwide won $5,000.00 each, specifically to be used for field trips.

The students and staff at Glenwood elementary are grateful to everyone who voted for us in the contest, and to Kleenex for allowing us to take this unforgettable trip. To everyone who made our circus trip possible, we say, “Big Thanks!”
