In memory of Jeffrey Cumbo

The administration, faculty and staff of Danville Public Schools were saddened by the sudden passing of their colleague, Mr. Jeffrey Cumbo, on December 12th. Mr. Cumbo was a dynamic and creative educator who began his teaching career at Woodrow Wilson Elementary School on July 20, 2004, followed by W. Townes Lea and most recently employed as a second grade teacher at Schoolfield. Mr. Cumbo's strength was in establishing a sense of community and stability within his classroom and his students, fellow educators and staff knew him to be a big man, with a bigger voice and a huge heart and spirit. His colleges are grateful for the all too brief time they had with Mr. Cumbo and will acutely miss being hailed in the hallways by Jeff to come read his students' latest writings or view their current projects and drawings. Through the many pictures and warm stories about his personal family, Mr. Cumbo made us feel that HIS family was part of OUR family and that faculty, staff and students alike were in the business of learning together.
