W.W. Moore Educators Attend Roanoke Conference

     The entire Education Program Staff at W. W; Moore, Jr. Juvenile Detention Home attended the State Operated Programs of Virginia Conference. The conference was held on August 20-21, 2015 at the Hotel Roanoke and Conference Center in Roanoke, Virginia. A total of 350 educators from Virginia gathered for the event. The theme of the conference was Review, Renew, and Refocus. The opening keynote speaker was Dr. Michelle Borba, an internationally renowned educator and award-winning author.

      There were many breakout sessions for everyone to attend. Some of the more popular sessions included, Basic Gang Awareness, Stoplights, Sticky Notes and Stressed Brains: Strategies for Long Lasting Learning in the Face of Adversity and Mental Health Issues in the Classroom. Each teacher gave a brief summary of the sessions he/she attended. The conference was enjoyed by all.
