Hoops for Heart

During the weeks of March 26th through April 4th the students at W. W. Moore participated in a free-throw-a-thon for Hoops for Heart. The free-throw-a-thon was a special event to raise funds to support the American Heart Association’s lifesaving heart and stroke research. Funds will also be used to develop programs that teach students and adults about the benefits of fitness and maintaining a healthy heart.

Each student shot a hundred free throws for the event. During the event a total of 1,229 free-throw shots were made. In order to raise funds, staff and teachers either sponsored a student or gave a donation.
The amount of $250.00 was raised.

To make this a event even more special, the students made hearts in honor of loved one who had suffered from a stroke or heart disease. The hearts were displayed on the hall bulletin board. The students were made aware that by participating in Hoops for Heart they would be helping people in their community and in their families fight the number 1 and number 3 killers of Americans which are heart disease and stroke. This event was coordinated by Coach David Lee, Physical Education Instructor, at W. W. Moore. This service learning project was enjoyed by all participants
