2014 CTE Tours

In January, over 400 eighth grade students visited George Washington High School to learn about courses they could take in high school to explore career opportunities, learn work readiness and job skills, and prepare for the world of work. Bonner and Westwood students toured 13 different laboratories and programs available through the Career and Technical Education department at the high school. Teachers and students talked about the program requirements, career opportunities, college credit options, and work experiences available through each program. Students asked questions and viewed the high school students demonstrating skills they have learned during the year. The students ended their day at the high school in the cafeteria where they ate with the high school students and received a CTE cinch bag with flyers on all the CTE programs they can take at GWHS. Students were encouraged to share the flyers and what they saw with their parents and school counselors. Bonner and Westwood students were very well behaved, attentive and asked many good questions. High school CTE teachers were impressed with the students and are anxious to see them in their programs next year.
