INTERNATIONAL "PI" DAY AT GWHS:The students in Ms. Tiana Taylor's classes engaged in a host of activities celebrating Pi Day (which also happens to be Albert Einstein's birthday). They include singing Pi songs, creating a chain link representing Pi that is over 500 links long, an activity discovering the value of Pi, a memory challenge to see which student could remember the most digits of Pi (the winner received a prize), and a Pi Trivia quiz. Students were encouraged to contribute to the celebration; they responded by bringing in Pi jokes and math brain teasers. Of course, no celebration of Pi would be complete without eating pie (and other circular-shaped treats), so the students enjoyed this part of International Pi Day the most.Ms. Taylor also reminds her students frequently of this very important quote, "We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit!"
