Forest Hills

Chinese New Year

“Gong Xi Fa Cai” to everyone! In other words, “Happy Chinese New Year.” Forest Hills students celebrated the start of the Year of the Dragon by making paper lanterns and eating chocolate money. Since the Chinese believe that red is a lucky color, students and faculty sported the color throughout the halls of the school. Mrs. Wasson, our Spanish teacher, promoted this lesson in diversity by having the students create glitter fireworks and Chinese wall hangings. In the media center, students decorated bookmarks imprinted with the Chinese characters for good luck, joy and wealth.
