Falcons Celebrate Pink Day

Galileo Magnet High School celebrated Pink Day on Oct. 16 in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month and in preparation for the Second Annual Powder Puff Football Game. A sea of pink could be seen all over school for the special day with students, faculty, and staff members donning wigs, bows, tutus, hair dye, and more.

“My favorite thing about Pink Day is seeing everyone dressed in these crazy outfits,” Student Council Vice-President Brianna Shelton said. “The weirdness of Galileo actually shows on days like this, and I love it.”

A competition was held to see which student could show the most school spirit by wearing the most pink attire with students really taking the challenge to heart.

“I dressed up for Pink Day because my aunt and my grandmother died of breast cancer, and I wanted to honor them,” Junior Jamiah Pridgen said. “I feel like we had a lot of support for this cause today and I really appreciate that.”
