Student Council Kick Off

     The Galileo Magnet High School Student Council has been busy already this year, holding their first meeting Sept. 5, helping the United Way set up for their kick-off event Sept. 7 at the community market, electing class officers Sept. 18 and planning their next community service project, helping out at the River District Festival on Oct. 5-6.

     Students who ran for student council office were Seniors Daniel Reddy and Alisa Fowlkes for president, Junior Ivan Hernandez and Senior Erica Dixon for vice-president, Juniors Nick Pradhan and Brianna Shelton for Treasurer and Juniors Jon McCain and Chloe Kelpey for secretary. The students campaigned with posters and other promotional materials Sept. 10-14 and gave speeches Sept. 18 after morning announcements. The officer elections were held Sept. 18 during first period by private ballot with Reddy winning president, Hernandez winning vice-president, Shelton winning treasurer and Kepley winning secretary. Fowlkes, Dixon, Pradhan and McCain will make up the principal’s advisory committee for the 2012-2013 school year.
