 Dads and Dr. Seuss

“The more you read the more you will know. The more you learn the more places you will go.” These famous words by Dr. Seuss were shared recently at Gibson Elementary School.  Dad and Dr. Seuss was a Title I sponsored event for grades K-3 held on March 5, 2014. Dads were given the opportunity to read, color, and play games with their children. Students enjoyed creating Dr. Seuss hats for their fathers to wear during the event. Donald Smith, a teacher at Gibson, motivated the fathers with his encouraging words focusing on quality time. Smith shared his personal experiences of raising his own two children. Throughout the speech, he focused on the importance of each father spending time reading and listening to their children. The fathers enjoyed all the activities related to Dr. Seuss.
