Anti-Bullying Day

Friday morning was a little different around the Avenue.  Why? Park Avenue Elementary School Administrators, Teachers and Staff arrived at school all dressed in T-shirts saying “Take a Stand Lend a Hand STOP BULLYING”!   Students arrived on school buses, students got out of cars, vans, jeeps, trucks all in an amazing “sense of awe”.  There were smiles, there were questions, there were statements being made (such as:  “Cool, I like these shirts!   How can I get one?  This is neat!  What  are we going to do today”?)

Our guidance counselor, Mrs. Crews along with the support of  our specialty team( Mr. Black, PE teacher; Mrs. Hanks, librarian; Mr. Payne, Art specialist; and Mrs.Ozmer, Spanish teacher, joined together and we devoted our day to reinforcing, and reviewing the importance of our “high expectations” for all of our students through Panther Pride!  Students listened to discussions, and participated in reading selections, signed a pledge to “stop bullying”, completed coloring activities on respect and love and were given opportunities to participate in creative writing.  At the close of our activities students were given special RED-pencils that read “PAWS”itively Bully & Drug Free” Set a “PAWS”-ITIVE EXAMPLE! BE KIND TO EVERYONE! BE DRUG FREE!
