Mother's Day Celebration at W.W. Moore

Mother’s Day is a special day. The students at W. W. Moore, Jr. Juvenile Detention

Home are celebrating the mothers, grandmothers, and all other mothers in their “villages.” A

couple of churches teamed up to donate the cards and postage stamps to students. Students

were given an opportunity to “shop” for up to three Mother’s Day cards. Over 30 cards were

signed, addressed, and mailed to students’ mothers, grandmothers, their children’s mothers,

and guardians. Students also helped Ms. Waller create a bulletin board to honor all the

mothers in the building. Each student and some staff members submitted a customized

handprint that was used as a flower petal. Students named staff members and teachers to be

honored as well.
