Light Sensors

Eighth graders in Ms. Brown's Robotics class studied light sensors with their Tankbot Robots! They learned how with a sensor attachment, the robot is able to detect the differences in some colors based on numeric values. The sensor reports the amount of light it "sees" to the robot's RCX as a number between 0 (total darkness) and 100 (very bright). They had to calculate "threshold" which is finding the mean between the light and dark values to come up with the programs the robot needed. The robots had to perform several tasks including moving away from light colored surfaces to stay inside a black colored area and follow a designated black line across a table!
