Perfect Square

Ms. Baynes' sixth grade math students used square tiles and grid paper to explore perfect squares. Students were able to discover the mathematical meaning of a perfect square numbers as well as the meaning of square roots through the use of these hands-on activities. At the end of the tile activity, students worked with a partner to form even bigger perfect squares by putting their tiles together. The student's also learned a perfect squares song which allowed them to memorize their perfect squares from 1 to 144 in a fun way!
