Parental Involvement Goal:

By the end of the 2017-18 school year, 80% of parents will participate in a minimum of four activities that will enhance and assist their children in mastering the mandated SOL’s in each grade level.

Desired Outcomes


1.  Parents will receive materials with research-based strategies regarding reading  that they can implement at home to assist their children in comprehending when reading various materials as well as understanding  how implementing these strategies will aide in their children’s academic success.


2.  Parents will have the opportunity to participate in activities/workshops at varying times of the day with a focus on Standards of Learning enrichment, reading comprehension, and Standards of Learning Make-It-Take-It activity.  As a result of these activities and workshops, the school will provide an inviting environment for parents and build positive parent/teacher relationships for the 2017-2018 school year.


3.  Parents will receive materials providing them with information about  homework assistance and tutoring for their children and resources that will create a positive learning environment at home.

Defined Objectives For Meeting The Goal

Our school will encourage parents to become involved in activities with a focus on the Standards of Learning by providing monthly calendars of scheduled events and posting events on the school’s website, conducting parent/teacher conferences to provide valuable information about their child’s reading and math levels when needed to collaborate on ways to improve their academic progress, and consistently communicate through weekly progress folders, phone calls, and conferences, and School Messenger.
