At Taylor Elementary School, we offer 40 extra days during Intersessions that are interspersed throughout the school year. At the end of approximately nine weeks of study, time is given for students to receive extra help in basic reading and math or to attend acceleration classes. Our school year begins in early August and ends in late June. There is also a three week Intersession offered in July. We know that children forget much of what they learn during the traditional long summer vacation period. By reducing the time out of school, summer learning loss is reduced. With vacations throughout the year, students and teachers are more energized and excited about learning. Over 75% of our student body chooses to attend these extra days of learning and fun.
